Can we take just a brief moment to pay homage to one of the great movie sets of all time, destroyed in a recent Universal fire? Hill Valley's town square wasn't any great feat of engineering or special effects; it's cool mostly because of the different ways it was used throughout both movies (I like to pretend Back to the Future III never happened). You could always tell which reality you were in depending on whether the clock was working or not, whether the kids surrounding the fountain were on scooters, skateboards or hoverboards, whether Goldie Wilson was mayor or sweeping floors at the malt shop.
Apparently the set had been used more recently for the Jennifer Love Hewitt show "Ghost Whisperer," but we'll try not to hold that against it.
Rest in Peace.
