Congratulations to Barrelhouse contributor and official buddy Matt Bell, whose story "Mario's Three Lives," which appeared in Barrelhouse 4 (and also on Bound Off), has just been selected for this year's Best American Fantasy anthology. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
We've always said that Mario's Three Lives was a good example of a Barrelhouse story -- funny, weird, poppy, and ultimately moving. And all of that despite, or maybe because of, the fact that the protagonist is a plumber in a videogame.
